Picture research

After studying graphic design and advertising at Berkshire College of Art, Camilla first worked at Travel Ink Photo & Feature Library, and at Retna UK Celebrity & Lifestyle Image Library in Pinewood Studios. This led to her becoming a freelance picture researcher, and she has 20 years experience sourcing images for all genres of fiction and non-fiction book titles

Skills include

  • Interpreting briefs creatively and to deadline for covers or inserts

  • Researching images from traditional sources as well as specialist archives, museums, institutions, and from individual photographers, artists and private collections

  • Negotiating fees and clearing rights with image libraries, photographers, and estates

  • Keeping accurate records of image codes, captions, dates, copyright credits & licence terms
